- Secular Organizations for Sobriety, also known as "Save OurSelves", provide a secular alternative to regliously based 12-step programs to counter addiction. While the name may inply only alcohol abuse this group deals with any addiction - alcohol, drug, eating, etc. The group presently meets every Saturday at 79th & State Line Road. - Recovering from Religion is a group dedicated to helping those who are trying to deal with leaving religion behind - perhaps that would be isolation or loss of friends, fellowship, ritual or even of "family". The organization was begun by local Kansas City area author Darrel Ray (The God Virus) and numerous local groups have been organized around the country.
